Team Phoenix evolved quickly from a marketing tool for full-suspension off-road wheelchair designs to a team of 2, then 6, then as many as 12 individuals across the U.S.A. dedicated to creating opportunities for racers and riders to access the sport of Off-road Wheelchairs.

Team members have consisted of nearly 20 racers, 3 professional mechanics, 3 engineers and designers, 2 messengers, 5 supporters, 2 doctors, over 100 volunteers, and numerous sponsors and supporters. Team members have been as diverse as any team could be. We have included artists, students, rednecks and hippies, teachers and housewives. We have had serious racers and part-timers; Paralympians and rank beginners.

The informal and organic, team-member-driven nature of Team Phoenix has created many, many friends around the world, and a few detractors. It has created life-long friendships bordering on family. Most importantly, it has meant shared adventure and the possibility of adventure for anyone with the will to seek it.
